Sometimes it is only when a celebrity gets a severe disease that people start paying attention and raising awareness towards it.

In the case of fibromyalgia, this chronic complex disorder ,which cause severe pain in the whole body and extreme fatigue, is extremely common. It affects between 4 and 10 million Americans (official numbers differ as fibromyalgia is sometimes misdiagnosed), and can appear in adults ages 18 and older. It is most commonly diagnosed between the ages 35 to 45 with more women affected than men.

Popular American singer Lady Gaga falls a few years short of the typical fibromyalgia patient, but at 31 years old, she suffers from fibromyalgia pain so severe that she had to cancel ten dates on her singing tour.

The symptoms of this disease are:

  • Pain throughout the body
  • Fatigue
  • Depression and anxiety
  • Sleep problems
  • Memory issues
  • Headaches and migraines
  • Numbness in hands and feet
  • Digestive problems

There is no good good answer to why fibromyalgia happens from the official medical community; the only suggested risk factors are being middle-age, being a woman, stress, repetitive injuries, and being triggered by other illnesses.

Many doctors disagree with this vague description.

Dr. Jack Kruse, a neurosurgeon who became a health educator for achieving optimal health, just wrote solid advice to Lady Gaga for reversing her condition — the same advice can also be used by people who want to prevent fibromyalgia.

Lady Gaga’s Fibromyalgia and Your Own Risk Factors

A lot of risk factors for fibromyalgia that Dr. Kruse described in his post are unfortunately a part of a musician’s lifestyle, but that does not mean that there is no way to prevent it. It also does not mean that a regular person cannot develop this condition. While manifesting in different types of risk factors, a famous singer’s lifestyle and yours, in the end is not that different when it comes to stressing out the body and the mind — leading to disease.

Dr. Kruse describe fibromyalgia as “a disease linked to a loss of electrons and a serious breakdown in proton recycling in the muscles and collagen fascia.”

The loss of electrons in a human body causes oxidation and inflammation, which is the prime cause of many conditions. It negatively affects and dehydrates all of the cells, and therefore all of the organs, including muscles and bones.

The risk factors for losing electrons and developing fibromyalgia, according to the doctor, are:

  • Working late hours at night/not getting enough rest during the night hours
  • Never being in the sun/getting vitamin D
  • Having a lot of tattoos (toxic inks)
  • Being constantly exposed to blue light (technology) and lack of red light
  • Working surrounded by electronic gadgets and technology
  • Living in a highly populated area

These are based on the singer’s lifestyle, but many of us are dealing with the same risks. A desk job, using a computer (blue light) over 40 hours a week is not better than the blue lights that surround performers on stage.

Dr. Kruse believes that the condition can be reversed if the environment is changed:

“The goal is not to avoid foods, molds, or toxins, with this issue, but to fix your environment so that the structure of the tissues and gut by replacing the electrons and proton recycling lost to build the capacitor in cell water back. This turns your energy engine, the mitochondria, back on to protect your cells once again.”

To do so, you can:

  • Avoid working at night and get plenty of rest
  • Implement strategies to fight stress
  • Enjoy some morning and evening sunlight when available, take vitamin D otherwise
  • Try red light therapy to reverse blue light overload and to relieve muscle and joint pain (buy a simple red light therapy device to use at home
  • Keep getting tattoos to a minimum or none at all
