5 Natural Ways to Feed a Healthy Digestive System

Our food system and eating habits have changed dramatically over the past few decades, but our digestive systems have had a hard time catching up.

As a result disorders like Crohn’s Disease, IBS, leaky gut, and several others have risen sharply, while doctors and patients alike look on with confusion.

The hopelessness of the situation has perhaps never been more pronounced, but a new generation of holistic healers has taken on the responsibility of fixing them.

Derek Henry is one of them, having overcome 13 different chronic disease conditions himself including candidiasis, leaky gut, rheumatoid arthritis, chronic fatigue, and many others.

Since then, he has gone on to create The Thrivers Diet, a 60-day dietary plan that has helped his clients reverse at least 20 different chronic diseases, including digestive disorders like the ones above.

As the old saying goes in the world of naturopathic medicine, “You aren’t what you eat, you are what you absorb,” and that is a motto that Derek has lived by for years.

Recently, Derek sat down for a video segment on how to better digest and assimilate food properly.

In the interview he discusses his top five tips to optimize digestion, as well as The Thriver’s Diet and how it can help with digestive disorders including IBS and leaky gut, as well as candida infections and other similar health conditions.

How the Thrivers Diet Helps with IBS, Crohn’s and Other Health Conditions

With a focus not just on the most powerful healing and non-inflammatory foods, but also on when and how to eat them, Derek’s signature diet book is the culmination of over a decade (3,500 hours) of research and $35,000 spent experimenting with alternative medicine.

“The Thrivers Diet is about creating a completely new quality of life through food,” Derek writes on his website, HealingtheBody.ca.

“It focuses on creating optimal digestion, which has been affectionately called by many legendary health pioneers, the ‘Gateway to Health.’ When it is working properly, your health and quality of life will be exceptional, but when it isn’t, your health and quality of life will deteriorate.

“You may have heard that ‘you are what you eat,’ and that is partly true, but more accurately, you are what you digest,” he continues.

“When the digestive system doesn’t work properly you will notice symptoms in all areas of the body, and very few will connect it back to the gateway to health.”

With so many foods on the market that destroy digestive health including GMOs, factory farmed meat, wheat and other foods that have been heavily sprayed with glyphosate, processed foods, and many more, focusing on digestive health is paramount.

Thankfully, even the most hopeless disease conditions like those mentioned above can be healed using the approach found in the book.

Personal Testimonials of People Who are Healing Their Diseases

Among the success stories achieved by the Thrivers Diet is that of Michelle from Saskatchewan, Canada, who struggled with a serious digestive order for years before trying the diet.

“I was diagnosed with IBS at a younger age and always had issues with digestion, but I ate “healthy” (or so I thought),” she said. “The first thing I noticed when I started The Thrivers Diet was the weight started to fall off, and one day I noticed my energy was coming back. I wasn’t as tired and I wasn’t having my mid day crashes at work anymore. My bloating also went away and my IBS symptoms improved. I also sleep better at night and have lost about 12 lbs.”

The Thrivers Diet was also followed by Erin of New Brunswick, Canada, who managed to come off all of her medications for Crohn’s after trying the diet.

“I had been trying to manage symptoms from Crohn’s Disease for nearly three decades. This led to other symptoms like adrenal fatigue, candida, thyroid problems, and low energy. Within weeks of starting The Thrivers Diet I noticed changes in the way I was feeling and how my body was reacting. My new “normal” is now light years better than how I felt before. I am off all medications at this point and am confident that my body will continue to only improve. This plan REALLY works!” she said.

While the diet is not a cure-all, its focus on whole foods, supplements, simplified meal plans and digestive health in general has made it one of the most promising of its kind for people suffering from IBS, Crohn’s, and similar diseases.
