For decades, the world has “run” on coffee, the caffeine and antioxidant-rich beverage that enhances cognitive speed, reaction time and much more.

While coffee can be quite healthy, especially when it’s organic, the downside of this obsession is that many people have become completely dependent on it, and missed out on the benefits of many other cognition-boosting supplements, foods, drinks and herbs that can have an equally powerful effect.

Among those supplements are medicinal mushrooms, which are relatively new to to the holistic health scene but are packed with countless benefits ranging from stress reduction to improved mental clarity, focus, and an overall sense of well being.

Recently, I had the chance to try a stress-busting medicinal mushroom drink from a company called Zen Blend based out of my home state of Michigan —  a product well worth trying if you’re looking to improve in any of these areas.

Zen Blend Ingredients

The ingredients in Zen Blend, which can be found at the website PotentiaWellness.com, include the following:

-Organic Cocoa

-Log Grown Reishi

-Cordyceps

-Bacopa

-Magnesium

The combination of these unique ingredients makes for a highly relaxing and calming beverage that is excellent for unwinding at the end of a long day.

The cocoa is high in magnesium and excellent as a mood booster, the reishi is a widely studied (500+ studies have been done on this one mushroom) medicinal mushroom that is excellent for boosting cognitive function, bacopa (a flowering herb) aids in this same department, cordyceps is one of the best boosters of lung function of all mushrooms or herbs, and magnesium aids in relaxation, stress relief, and much more.

This particular blend contains a combination of magnesium bisglycinate and citrate to restore magnesium levels in two different ways.

Zen Blend Impressions/Review

For the purposes of this review, I was given a sample of the product.

One thing I noticed right off the bat is that this is a high quality supplement for relaxation and for its pronounced calming effect, making it perfect to wind down with before bed. It is also highly effective if you work or live in a stressful environment, as it can help fortify your mind, body and spirit against these types of distractions.

It did have a bit of a woodsy taste to it because of the high quality and high volume of mushroom ingredients, but if you’re someone who enjoys the taste of all types of herbs you will definitely enjoy it. The cocoa makes the taste of this supplement accessible and enjoyable.

In terms of sweeteners, only monkfruit and stevia are used in Zen Blend; no added sugars are included.

Overall I really enjoyed this supplement and could feel the medicinal benefits from the first day I started taking it.

Unlike many other mushroom supplements, Zen Blend uses the full body of the mushroom rather than what are essentially the roots systems of the mushrooms like many other blends.

If you’re looking for a real deal medicinal mushroom supplement and really want to feel the “Zen” in your life from the day you start taking it, Zen Blend is most certainly worth it.
