McDonald’s Hits a New Low – You’ll Never Guess How Many Ingredients This Breakfast Sandwich Contains



The McDonald’s Corporation has changed its marketing efforts to reassure concerned consumers, parents and others who don’t believe they serve real food.

The company is striving for more transparency with ingredients and nutrition info more clearly listed on its website, but is that really a good thing?

Not when their food contains as many ingredients as one particular item that is drawing scrutiny after this article revealed exactly what it contains.

Video Reveals Behind-the-Scenes Info

According to the article, this new video on transparency at McDonald’s regarding its eggs revealed that the liquid egg used in one particular sandwich is mixed with twenty other components before it is flash frozen and reheated at restaurants, The Guardian said while including screenshots (see the video below).



McDonald’s Burrito and Its Laundry List of Ingredients

Listed below are the ingredients for the McDonald’s sausage burrito. Doesn’t sound like real food to me…how about you?


Enriched Flour (Bleached Wheat Flour, Malted Barley Flour, Niacin, Reduced Iron, Thiamin Mononitrate, Riboflavin, Folic Acid), Water, Shortening (Interesterified Soybean Oil and/or Hydrogenated Soybean Oil and/or Soybean Oil and/or Hydrogenated Cottonseed Oil), Contains 2% or Less of: Sugar, Leavening (May Contain One or More of: Baking Soda, Sodium Aluminum Sulfate, Corn Starch, Sodium Acid Pyrophosphate, Calcium Sulfate, Monocalcium Phosphate), Salt, Wheat Gluten, Dough Conditioners (Sodium Metabisulfite [Contains Sulfites], Distilled Monoglycerides).


Pre-Cooked Egg Product: (Whole Eggs, Nonfat Milk, Soybean Oil, Modified Food Starch, Salt, Black Pepper Flavor [Corn Starch, Spices, Mixed Triglycerides, Flavors, Silicon Dioxide, Gelatin, Carboxymethyl Cellulose, Sodium Benzoate, Citric Acid, Gum Acacia], Extractives of Black Pepper, Xanthan Gum, Citric Acid, Butter {Cream}, Lipolized Butter Oil, Flavors, Artificial Flavors]

Pre-Cooked Sausage Crumbles: Pork, Water, Salt, Dextrose, Spices, Corn Syrup Solids, Sugar, BHA, Propyl Gallate, Citric Acid [Added To Help Protect Flavor]), Vegetables (Tomatoes, Green Chiles, Onions, Calcium Chloride, Citric Acid.


Milk, Cream, Water, Cheese Culture, Sodium Citrate, Contains 2% or Less of: Salt, Citric Acid, Sodium Phosphate, Sorbic Acid (Preservative), Lactic Acid, Acetic Acid, Enzymes, Sodium Pyrophosphate, Natural Flavor (Dairy Source), Color Added, Soy Lecithin (Added for Slice Separation).

In total the burrito contains about 790 milligrams of sodium as well (and we’re not talking about Himalayan pink salt or healthier alternatives here).



Also included is sodium benzoate, a preservative added to fireworks to produce a whistling sound, and carboxymethyl cellulose which is used as a binding compound in denture adhesives.

Of course you could come up with similarly alarming statements for many other food ingredients.

But in this case, something just doesn’t seem right, and it’s yet another prime example of why customers are fleeing the Golden Arches in droves (note: The Daily Mail reported this item contains 100 ingredients but only listed the ingredients above which numbers a few dozen less depending on how they’re counted; the newspaper did not respond to requests to reveal the additional ones).
