The iPhone 12 Series passed the 100 million units sales mark in June 2021, and the phone has remained popular with price tags of 300 dollars and up.
The iPhone 12 remains popular on Amazon.com. It’s the #1 best selling phone among renewed models on the popular online store and has over 14,000 four-star plus reviews during a time when the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Max are considered to be among the most updated iPhone models.
In September of this year, France’s top radiation watchdog, the Agence Nationale des Frequences (ANFR), announced that the iPhone 12’s Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) was higher than legally allowed.
French Ban of iPhone 12 Revealed
Apple was ordered to take its iPhone 12 products off the market in September due to the phone’s high radiation readings, according to a report from the Associated Press.
The phone failed one of two types of tests for electromagnetic waves that are capable of being absorbed by the human body.
In total, 141 phones were tested for their SAR levels, which vary country.

Software Update Restores iPhone 12 Legal Status
The iPhone 12 hardware was given a software update by the Apple Computer, Inc. and was resold again starting on September 12.
Meanwhile, it is still being sold in the United States. Recent data indicated that iPhone 12 phones in the United States rank in the middle of the pack in terms of their SAR status.
Highest and Lowest Radiation-Emitting Cell Phones
In May of this year the website Digital Information World compiled a list of cell phones that give off the most radiation. The list was published by the Daily Mail.
The five phones that emit the highest amount of radiation include:
-Motorola Edge ( 1.79 w/kg)
-OnePlus 6T (1.55 w/kg)
-Sony Xperia XA2 Plus (1.41 w/kg)
-Google Pixel 3 XL (1.39 w/kg)
Google Pixel 4a (1.37 w/kg); tied with the Oppo Reno5 5G (1.37 w/kg)

-Samsung Galaxy Note10+ 5G (0.19 w/kg)

U.S. iPhone Radiation Concerns Remain
