MegaFood has become the first supplement company to be certified glyphosate free.
One of the most difficult things about shopping for both food and supplements these days is avoiding glyphosate, the cancer-linked chemical used in the proprietary Roundup weedkiller formula by the Monsanto Company.
Glyphosate, dubbed a “probable human carcinogen” by the World Health Organization’s International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) in 2015, is showing up in everything from rainwater samples to baby food and drinking water, not to mention in some of the most popular foods on the market.
When it comes to buying supplements, many consumers don’t know who to trust these days, especially considering a recent report that most supplements found in major U.S. stores like Wal-Mart are packed with cheap fillers and may not even contain any of the plant-based ingredients they claim to on the package.
The good news, however, is that there are plenty of fast-growing natural and organic supplement companies out there to choose from, including one based out of New Hampshire that just became the first of its kind to achieve full glyphosate-free certification.
Supplement Brand Announces Itself Free of Monsanto Chemical
According to this article from the website SustainablePulse.com, the company in question, MegaFood out of of Manchester, NH, has achieved glyphosate-free certification on its entire line of supplements, ranging from Vitamin C blends to Multi-Vitamins for Men and Women.
This makes them the first supplement company to achieve that distinction, in large part thanks to a supply chain that includes organic growers like Lundberg Family Farms, Uncle Matt’s Organic, Foxy Organic and others.
The company also supports six different charities including Florida Organic Growers, the National Young Farmers Coalition and more.
MegaFood was certified by The Detox Project, a research and certification organization that counts SustainablePulse, one of the leading GMO and organic news websites, as its media partner.

MegaFood is usually found at health food stores, as well as on its website, and also on Amazon.com, featuring supplements made from a wide variety of whole foods to provide vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and more.
Some of their most popular supplements include a Women’s One Daily multi-vitamin, Turmerric Strength, and Blood Builder, which is aimed at reversing iron deficiencies, especially in women.

Top Supplement Company List Devoid of Organic Brands
According to 2013 statistics posted by Statista.com, Nature Made is the number one best selling supplement brand in the United States, followed by Nature’s Bounty, Centrum Silver, Airborne and Emergen-C.
Unfortunately for consumers, many of these contain synthetic vitamins and do not use organic or chemical-free ingredients, unlike MegaFood and other similar brands that make it a priority.
The supplement industry, however, is here to stay — and likely to grow even bigger in the coming years.
As of 2016, the industry contributed more than $120 billion to the economy on average per year. Unfortunately, large amounts of of the supplements being sold are likely to contain glyphosate, fillers, and synthetic vitamins instead of whole foods-based nutrition and organic ingredients.
Now, the question is whether or not consumers will flock to natural supplement companies like MegaFood, or continue down the same path in the coming years.
Considering the backlash and rising awareness surrounding Monsanto and glyphosate, it’s safe to say that becoming glyphosate-free can only be seen as a benefit for supplement companies like MegaFood moving forward (and hopefully becomes a trend sooner rather than later).
