Review: Gourmet, Organic Salmon, Berries And More From Northwest Wild Foods

Wild Pacific Northwest Foods.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned in my last fifteen-plus years of buying mostly organic and natural foods, it’s that there is a big difference between these types of foods and truly gourmet, artisan style foods.

Recently I had the opportunity to check out some organic, gourmet foods from a company called Northwest Wild Foods and came away duly impressed.

This company has a selection of organic jams, jellies, fish (including wild caught salmon), and some of the most unique and delicious organic berries I’ve ever had in my life.

One look at this company’s incredible selection of gourmet organic foods and you will start salivating like a cartoon character.

Here are my impressions of the company and the items I had the privilege and joy of trying.

Organic Honeyberries And Huckleberries

Honeyberries are one of the best foods made by Northwest Wild Foods.

These varieties of purple berries are antioxidant powerhouses that help protect the body from disease, reduce inflammation and boost brain power.

Huckleberries have a very unique taste that are sweet and relatively mild similar to a blueberry but with more complexity in my personal opinion.

Honeyberries, also known as honeysuckle, have a little bit more of a sweet-and-sour flavor profile that added even more richness, complexity and diversity to the smoothies I put them in recently.

Overall I really enjoyed both of these varieties of berry.

The honeyberries are picked fresh and frozen before they are packaged and shipped out to customers. They come from one of two locations in this case: the pristine wilderness of Idaho or Mount Saint Helens, a dormant “supervolcano” located in Washington state.

Honeyberries are also picked fresh and frozen. They have five times the polyphenols (antioxidant plant compounds) as blueberries making them one of the healthiest snacks you can purchase on the market today.

Northwest Wild Foods Wild Caught Salmon

Northwest Wild Foods Salmon.

The second organic food category I tried from Northwest Wild Foods was their wild caught salmon. I guess you could say I was on a bear’s diet for several days while taste-testing and reviewing these products because salmon and berries are a major component of a grizzly or Kodiak bear’s diet.

Northwest Wild Foods offers, quite simply, the best, freshest-tasting, most incredible restaurant quality fish I’ve ever had in my life.

The selections I tried were the Wild Alaskan King Salmon and the Wild Alaskan Silver Salmon.

If you’ve been following this website for a while you probably have read our articles about genetically modified salmon and how it poses a threat to wild salmon stocks.

After tasting these two salmon varieties I immediately thought to myself, “Wow, this is a food source worth protecting,” and it is needless to say absolutely paramount to protect our wild salmon stocks from contamination by GMO salmon, pesticides, petroleum based chemicals, glyphosate, GMO food sources (many fish farms feed their fish GMO corn and soy pellets instead of their natural diets), toxic algae blooms and other contaminants.

These wild caught Alaskan salmon filets are 100% pristine and taste like something I would get at a five-star restaurant, even with my slightly above average to below average cooking skills.

All things considered, these are a home run for me. You won’t find better wild caught fish filets anywhere on Earth, at least not in my personal opinion.

Final Thoughts On Northwest Wild Foods

Wow. What can I say.

My love for this company is beyond words. I am truly honored and thrilled to have gotten the opportunity to try food from what is perhaps the finest gourmet organic food company on Earth.

I first checked them out while looking for a source of exotic mushrooms like morels and ended up finding a treasure trove of gourmet organic products that are unlike anything I’ve ever had.

I can’t praise this company enough, they truly are the best of the best.

Find them on Instagram here, and check out their website here.
