Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is the nephew of former United States President John F. Kennedy Jr. and a candidate for the presidency in 2024. He is known for his outside-the-box stances on everything from vaccine toxicity and safety to genetically modified foods and other chemicals in the U.S. food and water supply.
Recently, it was announced that Kennedy Jr. is pursuing California attorney Nicole Shanahan, the ex-wife of Google co-founder Sergey Brinn, as his choice for a vice presidential running mate.
Kennedy, Jr., a renowned environmental attorney and steward himself, is also known as an outspoken advocate for the health of children as the founder of the Children’s Health Defense organization.
Kennedy, Jr. recently touched on a topic that most other candidates refuse to address: the safety of the U.S. water supply, while also making a boast about removing the toxic chemical fluoride from the water supply if elected.
Kennedy Shares Thoughts About Fluoride on X
Kennedy, Jr. has 2.8 million followers on X and a ‘blue check mark’ indicating the authenticity of his account. Recently, the man known as ‘RFK Jr.’ shared a campaign promise that few saw coming.

Kennedy, Jr.’s comments have led to a response from online ‘fact checkers’ who cited the CDC and other groups’ stances that water fluoridation is a ‘safe way to reduce tooth decay.’
The United States first began fluoridating tap water in 1945 and 63% of Americans’ tap water has fluoride added to it. The choice of whether to fluoridate water supplies is up to each individual state and/or municipality.
Kennedy, Jr. has referenced a trial in San Francisco underway currently. In it, non-profit organizations and other plaintiffs are alleging that fluoridation poses “an unreasonable risk of injury to health” and asking the EPA to disallow fluoride in water supplies.

New, Old Research Links Fluoride to Cancer Risks
The type of fluoride currently added to the U.S. water supply is a byproduct of the fertilizer industry and has been linked to cancer risks in both old and new studies (full info here).
While RFK Jr.’s current stand against the fluoridation industry is regarded as something novel, the truth is that health advocates have been sounding the alarm about fluoride for several decades, dating back to the 1960s and beyond.
It is considered to be a cumulative toxin that adds up in the body’s tissues over time and may cause ‘serious’ damage according to Harvard Public School of Health researcher Dr. Philippe Grandjean.
“The effect of each toxicant may seem small, but the combed damage on a population scale can be serious,” he said, “especially because the brain power of the next generation is crucial to all of us.”
