Woman Claims Eating a Whole Orange, with Peel is a Perfect Cure for Constipation

Is an orange with the peel a perfect cure for constipation? One woman seems to think so...

A social media influencer named Bethany shared her alleged constipation cure recipe involving oranges recently. Source

Constipation and digestive issues are continuous challenges in today’s day and age, especially considering the many foods that may contribute to digestive disorders.

Roundup ready genetically modified crops and the herbicides used on them have been linked to serious digestive disorders. Studies on GMO foods and lab animals showed tiny holes are punctured in the digestive tracts of animals who consume these foods regularly.

With so many people struggling with digestive disorders, a woman decided to take it upon herself to create a new recipe to help clean out the digestive system.

Its unique nature has been met with skepticism in online circles but she swears by its effectiveness.

“Constipated? Do This. Works Every Time”

The woman’s Instagram handle is @lilslipper, and her formula for alleviating constipation is being spotlighted throughout popular news websites.

Her recipe is simple – it involves eating the entire orange with skin on along with two different famous spices that are probably hanging out in your medicine cabinet right now.

It takes five to ten minutes to work its magic but its success rate is incredibly high, according to the source of the video that is now making the rounds.

Readers React to Orange Peel/Constipation Trick

Not all fans were buying the social media influencer’s constipation relieving trick but many were interested judging by their reactions on Instagram.

“How do you get constipated eating so health as you do?” one fan pondered out loud in the comments.

“Coffee works instantly” another added.

“I used this hack from you years ago when I would nanny! Fixed lil guys tummy every time,” another added.

The post was liked over 425,000 times and has been covered in major media outlets including the New York Post.

According to Dr. Danielle VenHuzen, MS, RDN, a dietitian and owner of Food Sense Nutrition, the recipe isn’t likely to work immediately on a physical level.

Her comments to Health.com appeared to indicate there may be a placebo effect at work in regards to Bethany’s constipation “cure.”

For a person prone to constipation, there is no way that eating a high-fiber food is going to produce immediate effects. That’s just not how fiber works,” VenHuizen said.

“While fiber can promote regularity, it takes hours for fiber to reach the colon and help alleviate constipation,” she said.
