Builders like Wix and Squarespace suit plenty of people. Here is how they compare with doing WordPress yourself and with paying us.

|---|---|---|---|
| First-year cost | $204–468 on a yearly plan | $50–100 for a domain and shared hosting | $699, plus your domain |
| Each year after | $204–468, more if you pay month to month | Often $120–185 once the hosting promo price ends | $149 Hosting & Care, plus your domain renewal |
| Who builds it | You, in a drag-and-drop editor | You, from a blank install | We do, after you approve a free preview |
| Your time | Learning the editor and building every page | 10–20 hours for a beginner, then ongoing upkeep | Describing your business and reviewing the preview |
| Updates, backups, security | Handled by the platform | Your job | Included in Hosting & Care |
| If you leave | Text can be exported; the design has to be rebuilt | You take everything | Free full package any time, or we move it for you for $99 |
| Routine edits after launch | You make them | You make them | You make them, or we do them: $49/month, unlimited requests |
| SEO help later | Built-in tools, you do the work | Plugins, or hire someone | We do the work, billed from prepaid credits |
Prices are the providers' published rates as of October 2026. The full breakdown, including renewal increases and plugin costs, is in how much a website costs.
If you enjoy setting things up, have a weekend or two free, and want to change your site the minute an idea hits, Wix or Squarespace is a sensible pick. Over three years a builder plan costs about $612 to $1,404. Our launch plus two renewals comes to $997 plus the domain. The money is close, so the real question is whose time goes into it.
If the website is how new customers find you, every evening spent fighting a page layout is time taken from paid work. A beginner needs 10 to 20 hours to get a WordPress site running, and that is before writing the pages. Handing it off means you spend your time describing the business, then checking a preview.
You get your own dashboard login and can edit text and photos yourself, or pay $49 a month for Managed updates and have us make as many changes as you need. Layout changes and new features go through us. Small ones are free for 5 business days after delivery; after that they cost $50 to $500 depending on difficulty, quoted before we start. We work in writing only, so there is no one to call. And we can't promise rankings, which no honest provider can.
If that trade works for you, start with the free preview. You pay only once you like it.
