Four Benefits of Raw Cheese to Recognize and Remember at All Times

Raw cheese is incredibly health and beneficial. It is worth its weight in nutritional gold for a variety of reasons.

Cheese is a food that human beings instinctively crave like few others.

Recent research found that people crave cheese because of casein, a type of protein that can trigger opioid receptors which can provide a sense of pleasure and well being in the brain.

Cheese comes in a wide variety of flavors local supermarkets, grocery stores and health food stores.

Most shoppers shop based on recognizable brand names that don’t sell raw cheese, but if you’re looking for health benefits, consider looking for raw cheese the next time you head to the local store.

Raw Cheese Offers Considerable Health Benefits

Raw cheese is different from most cheeses in that it is not pasteurized, i.e. heated.

Heating cheese destroys beneficial enzymes that aid in the body’s digestion of nutrients.

Buying raw cheese ensures nutrients from preferably organic cheese produced by 100% grass-fed cows remains intact and simple to absorb.

Four benefits of grass-fed cheese include the following:

1. Rich in Gut-Healthy Bacteria-

Cheese is a fermented food. Letting the cheese sit out for a prescribed period of time before eating it ensures that a healthy ratio of beneficial gut-friendly bacteria is produced.

A 2020 pilot study on 24 people consuming raw milk found for 12 weeks found it increased concentrations of Lactobacilli in the gut, a powerful probiotic that can improve digestion and the absorption of vitamins and minerals.

Healthy gut bacteria also improves brain health.

2. Packed with Vitamin K-

Vitamin K is essential for bone and heart health. It keeps the walls of arteries and veins free from excess calcium build-up and helps to improve the absorption of Vitamin D, an essential vitamin for heart health.

3. It Tastes Better-

Many people who consume raw cheese report that it tastes better than pasteurized cheese.

Raw cheese is more prevalent in European countries like Germany, France and Italy where restrictions and regulations are looser on the alleged necessity of pasteurizing cheese.

Much like organic food, raw cheese tastes better. It tastes like cheese is supposed to taste, especially if it’s from cows that are given room to graze on pastures with a 100% grass-fed and/or organic diet.

4. ‘Better Than Organic’ Standards-

Raw cheese is typically produced by small family farms.

It’s difficult to find any raw cheese on the market that is not sourced from grass-fed cows, if not 100% grass-fed cows.

If you can’t find organic cheese near you, consider searching for 100% grass-fed raw cheese. Oftentimes cheese from grass-fed, raw cheese makers is of better quality than organic, pasteurized cheese farms.

Thank you for reading! A block of grass-fed raw cheese is one of my favorite health foods to eat throughout the day. Another nutritional powerhouse worth consuming is colostrum, which is said to be the most nutrient dense of any dairy product.

Try a grass-fed whey protein with colostrum from our friends at Paleo Valley here, if you’re looking for something nourishing and delicious with organic cacao and vanilla included for flavoring purposes (On Sale – here).
