Put Your Baby to Sleep In Under 60 Seconds With This Simple Tissue Trick

Trying to get a crying baby to sleep can be absolutely exhausting. Sometimes it seems like no matter what you do, they just won’t stop. You rock them back and forth. You sing lullabies. You take them for a car ride. Realistically, you try anything and everything.

But odds are you haven’t tried this…

Something You Haven’t Tried To Put Your Baby to Sleep

But what you may not have tried is this simple technique using a soft tissue.

To try this trick all you have to do is gently glide the tissue down over your baby’s eyes. That’s it.

You keep repeating this move over and over and watch as your baby’s eyes slowly begin to close and eventually he or she falls asleep. Often this can take as little as 60 seconds.

If you don’t believe me, just check out this video:

Why This Trick Works

It’s really hard to say what’s so effective about this tissue technique. It could be that the tissue encourages them to close their eyes. Or perhaps they find watching the tissue mesmerizing. Or maybe the soft flow of air that floats over their face is soothing.

But that’s not really the important part anyway. The important thing is, your baby is asleep.

What If It Doesn’t Work

Of course, there is no guarantee that this trick will work every time. Babies are, after all, very finicky and there are a lot of other factors to consider. Your baby might be having trouble sleeping for all sorts of different reasons.

Here are a few things to keep in mind:

1. Limit eye contact before bed – Believe it or not, animated eye contact is one of the most stimulating things in the world to a young baby. I know it’s hard to not look them in the eye as you are putting them to bed, but averting their gaze will help them settle down.

2. Calm them down with a bath – Just as the tissue trick is soothing, so too is a warm bath before bed. Try to make it as calm as possible, so no splashing!

3. Cool their room – The cooling effect of the tissue might be one of the reasons it’s so effective. Take it to the next level by making sure your baby’s room is between 65 and 70 degrees Fahrenheit. They need the perfect temperature, just like you.

4. Give them a massage – Another way to help your baby to relax is a bedtime massage. Be gentle, of course, but the feel of your hands should help them feel cozy and secure and ready to fall asleep.

5. Remember to take naps – You might think that napping too much during the day would keep your baby up at night. But in fact the opposite is usually true.

6. Tell a story – Nothing beats the classic bedtime story (well this tissue trick might, but still). Many kid’s first memories are getting cozied up and falling asleep to their favorite story night after night. Your baby may be too young to remember, but they’re never too young to start this time-honored tradition.

Those are the tricks; we’re looking forward to hearing about your results. Have a good night!
