Actress Eva Mendes Calls Out Kellogg’s USA For Five Cereal Ingredients Banned In Other Countries

Eva Mendes called out Kellogg's based in Battle Creek, Michigan for the presence of artificial ingredients.

Eva Mendes is a well known actress whose movies have won two awards over the course of her career and been nominated 17 times.

Mendes is married to actor Ryan Gosling with whom she has two daughters, Esmeralda and Amanda, a part of her life that may have influenced a recent Instagram post she made in regards to the iconic yet controversial Battle Creek, Michigan cereal company Kellogg’s.

Mendes called out the West Michigan based food corporation for the use of ingredients banned in other countries on the social media platform, a call-out that caught the attention of journalist Vani Hari, aka the ‘Food Babe,’ ahead of a demonstration in the company’s home city.

The demonstration is expected to include speakers including Hari, Calley Means, Jason Karp, Dr. Joel Gator and Courtney Swan.

Now, Mendes’ comments are causing a stir in a social media post that was liked by over 111,000 people.

Mendes Calls Out Kellogg’s Over Banned Ingredients

Mendes shared a personal account of her love affair with cereal growing up in the post. She says she no longer supports the company at the cash register for one clear reason.

“I grew up on cereal,” Mendes said in the post. “I still love it but I won’t eat @kelloggsus anymore after I found out that so many of the ingredients they use here in the US are BANNED in other countries. Why? Because they’re harmful for children.

“Gracias to @thefoodbabe for helping to bring this to light and demand that Kellogg remove these harmful artificial food dyes for us – just like they do in other countries.”

Hari Responds To Movie Actress Over Kellogg’s Post

Hari, who has spoken to Congress about these and similar issues, took the time out of her busy schedule to respond back to the famous movie star and actress.
“Thank you @evamendes for your voice and courage to standup for American children everywhere,” Hair wrote with a period at the end of her sentence and a red heart emoji.

Hari is a mother of two, author and food system activist. She said recently that Kellogg’s has failed to live up to its 2018 promise to remove synthetic food dyes and has started an online petition that garnered more than 170,000 signatures to have the dyes removed from Kellogg’s products.

“They said they would do it by 2018, and they never did,” Hari said according to the Detroit Free Press.
