Product Review: A Gluten-Free, Organic Version of an Italian Pasta Favorite

Jovial pasta, Gluten free stelline, organic stellina, organic stelline review

Organic food makers have become increasingly creative over the past few years, working to create unique versions of favorite foods with different health benefits.

Recently I had the opportunity to sample a creative product from the company Jovial: a gluten-free version of Stelline, a favorite Italian pasta made from durum wheat.

This pasta is made from organic brown rice flour instead of the wheat, allowing for its gluten-free distinction.

For those who haven’t tried Stelline (word meaning “little stars”) before, it’s an Italian pasta favorite characterized by its tiny star shapes. The star pattern is celebrated for its shapes, and is typically added to soups.

How It Tastes

The gluten-free Stelline from Jovial tastes like a light, hearty pasta. If you like brown rice or similar gluten-free foods, you’ll definitely enjoy this pasta. This type of pasta goes great with organic chicken or other healthy proteins.

Overall I found it to be satisfying and delicious, without as much of a heavy feeling as I would get from wheat based pasta. The Stelline from Jovial is simple, delicious and a great addition to soups as well adding additional nutrients including calcium, iron, magnesium, protein, B vitamins and more.

I could see this pasta being great to take on a camping trip along with a box or can of soup or pre-prepared camper’s meal. It’s simple to prepare and great for energy without feeling weighed down by gluten or unhealthy chemical additives that are found in most other pasta products.
