Product Review: Superfood Ice Cubes For Tea, Drink Mixers, Superfood Tonics and More

The incredible superfood ice cubes from Kovi Kai.

The last decade-plus in the world of organic and natural health has been an exciting one. Companies have taken it upon themselves to use healthy, herbal superfood ingredients to create health tonics the likes of which have never been seen.

One unique company along these lines is Kovi Kai, a 100% organic, non-GMO and Hawaii-based company that creates superfood ice cubes for wildly healthy drink infusions that taste as good as they look.

Recently I had the opportunity to try two of their creations, fresh from the rich soil of Hawaiian farms to my doorstep. These are my impressions.

Kovi Kai Superfood Ice Cubes #1: Turmeric

Turmeric and ginger superfood ice cubes in my freezer drawer.

The first superfood ice cubes product I sampled was the turmeric product from Kovi Kai.

The first thing I noticed is the incredible presentation of these products. Each product including the turmeric is bursting with color and a focus on health benefits and convenience, all in one package.

The turmeric superfood ice cubes include raw, cold-pressed turmeric in a liquid, ice cube tray style form, direct from Hawaiian farms with a rich soil microbiome.

I first tried these ice cubes as a hot tea. I put two cubes in my coffee cup and added hot water, waited five to 10 minutes and stirred up my cup nice and uniformly.

The result was a rich and delicious turmeric tea with no frills that tested farm-fresh, rich in healing compounds, and delicious. This turmeric is as close to fresh-made turmeric tea as anything I have had from a health food store or ordered online.

Secondly, I tried these ice cubes in a cold drink. I added them to a glass tumbler, waited a few minutes for them to melt and swirled the turmeric around with a frother.

The result was an ice cold and refreshing turmeric drink the likes of which I had never had before in my life. It was a great jump start to my day and helped to give me that tingly, inflammation relieving feeling that turmeric has become famous for in recent times.

These ice cubes truly were a revelation. They tasted great and were so convenient and fun to have on hand. I can only imagine how good they would be as a drink mixer for a superfood infusion to drinks at a party.

Highly recommended, to say the least.

Kovi Kai Superfood Ice Cubes #2: Ginger

The second superfood ice cubes variety I tried was the ginger variety from Kovi Kai.

These ice cubes reminded me of several years ago when my roommate used to make fresh ginger tea on the stove. The ginger taste was farm-fresh and rich from the first ice cubes I added to my coffee cup for hot tea.

The hot ginger tea I made was incredibly rich in flavor and gave me that warming, tingly sensation I usually only find in fresh made ginger tea. Overall, I was blown away yet again but how fresh and true-to-form these ginger ice cubes were compared to superfood powders or even superfood tinctures. There’s just something about getting the whole food version of whatever superfood you are consuming and this ginger product was out-of-this-world good and true to whole foods form.

I loved making these ice cubes into a hot tea followed by a cold ginger superfood tonic.

They mixed up incredibly well and provided me with a fresh and exciting start to my day every time.

Overall, I can’t recommend these ginger ice cubes enough. I personally preferred them to the turmeric ice cubes because I love the warm tingly sensation of ginger and the health benefits pure, organic ginger from superfood cubes like these provide for digestion.

Like the turmeric, these ginger root ice cubes come from farm-fresh, organic, micronutrient rich Hawaiian farms’ soil and are as authentic as it gets as far as whole food superfood based products on the market are concerned.

I’ve never tried anything as authentic as these ginger superfood ice cubes as well as the turmeric ones.
