Protein and superfood bar fans have witnessed changes to their favorite products post-COVID as companies have reformulated their ingredients profiles, oftentimes not in a healthy way.

KIND Bar for example has changed its recipe to include canola oil, which was originally used as engine lubricant and often becomes rancid due to the ways it is processed and stored, oftentimes in plastic bottles.

Other products use soy protein crisps, high fructose corn syrup and other ingredients with major health questions.

Recently, I was given the opportunity to check out and try some incredible function mushroom based bars from Wise Bar, which are made from organic ingredients and packed with superfood ingredients.

Wise Bar Flavors

The three flavors of Wise Bar I tried are as follows: Mocha Coconut, Peanut Banana and Cinnamon Turmeric.

I dug into the Mocha Coconut flavor first and was not disappointed. If you like earthy, smooth chocolate with strong notes of coffee flavor you will absolutely love these bars.

Secondly, I gave the Peanut Banana a try. The Peanut Banana was very good; I liked it a lot but I felt it could have been improved with the addition of raspberry or strawberry jam to add a little more complexity and synergy to the flavors. I would still buy these any day.

Finally, the Cinnamon Turmeric had a really strong flavor to it that I truly enjoyed. If you’re a fan of spicy cinnamon (this almost tasted like a cinnamon oil flavor profile/palette) then I strongly believe you will enjoy these as well.

My favorite taste in this whole pack was the coffee notes in the Mocha Coconut. If you’re a coffee lover you will be blown away by the seamless blend of flavors.

Overall I give this company’s flavors a 9 out of 10 rating; keep in mind that these bars are a little more complex and earthy than the sugary fare you will find on grocery store shelves so it may take a bit of a discerning palette to truly enjoy these flavors for everything they are worth.

Wise Bar Nutrition

Mocha Coconut.

First off, I am a big fan of the Wise Bar commitment to organic ingredients.

Looking at the wrapper I saw nine organic ingredients plus Himalayan Pink Salt which typically does not fall under the category of being organic or otherwise.

Dates are a prominent ingredient, bringing with them potassium, minerals, fiber, copper, iron and magnesium.

Organic peanuts, organic banana, organic coffee, organic coconut, organic oats, organic cacao and organic mushroom extracts like Reishi and Lion’s Mane (two of the most rare and potent of all mushrooms) are included.

The mushrooms give a boost of mental health/brain power and these bars also include Ashwagandha, a potent adaptogen a calming effect on human nerves.

If you do yoga, martial arts or other activities that require patience, or love going on hikes or adventures, these provide ideal nutrition in my experience and estimation.

I give these a 9.5 out of 10 on nutrition, I would like to see an expanded suite of plant nutrients that I haven’t seen often in other nutrition bars.

Additional Thoughts on Organic Wise Bars

Overall I thoroughly enjoyed these bars and would definitely purchase them if I were going on a big adventure or preparing for a long yoga or martial arts/grappling session.

They feature really cool product designs with their trademark, iconic owl logo on the wrapper and everything is exquisitely, thoughtfully crafted for maximum portability and visual impact.

Wise Bars are an experience.
