Product Review: Organic Electrolytes, Probiotics, and Superfoods, All in One Package

Root'd Electrolytes for Men.

The field of electrolytes is a crowded one now that the cat is out of the bag and people everywhere realize how beneficial they can be for human health. Electrolytes are defined as substances that have a positive or negative charge when dissolved in water.

In the world of natural health, they typically take on the form of mineral and vitamin-enhanced packets that make for a health and delicious fruit-flavored drink.

In the past few years I have had the privilege of sampling many different electrolytes with many different health related benefits in mind. Out of all these electrolyte varieties and brands, none has stood out as much as Root’d, a Manhattan Beach, California company with a focus on providing comprehensive nutrition, with multiple formulas designed for men, women, and women who are expecting.

Root’d Electrolytes Nutrition

Simply put, Root’d’s products provide more nutrition per packet than any electrolytes brand I have ever tried. The His Multi formula includes 24 ‘essential vitamins and minerals’ in one packet with nine organic superfoods, probiotics and enzymes.

The result is a drink that has a fizziness to it like electrolytes and a rich, vibrant color to it like fresh-squeezed fruit juice or fruits powders.

The men’s formula has 1,250% Vitamin B12 as one of its standout nutrients. It also contains 100% of the daily value of iodine from potassium iodide, a nutrient that is hard to get in food each day for most people.

Root’d also stands out from other electrolytes I’ve tried by containing 100% of the daily value of Biotin, a protein that helps tremendously for health hair, skin and nails.

Superfoods include the following, all organic: beet root, turmeric root, chlorella, kale, broccoli, barley grass and oat grass.

Lutein, a plant compound for improve eye health, is included; sourced from Marigold, a yellow, orange, or copper-brown flower in the daisy family.

Overall, I was blown away by the nutrient profile in these electrolytes. The men’s, women’s and pre-Natal blends all have different nutrients, and they are all stuffed to the rafters with organic goodness.

I also really appreciated the specific differences in each formula. For example, the men’s has 100% of the daily value for Zinc as it is an essential nutrient for testosterone production.

The women’s multi has 467% more Vitamin B12 than the men’s formula, as Vitamin B12 is essential for nervous system health, and it also has 200% more Vitamin D than the men’s formula.

The women’s formula has 300% more Biotin than the men’s formula, as women tend to prioritize the health of hair, skin and nails.

The company also offers a pre-natal formula with 100% of the daily value of Folate, considered to be an important pre-natal vitamin.

The company advertises health benefits for immunity, hydration, energy, development (of babies in the mother’s womb), and beauty as its main health benefits categories. This is a novel approach to the electrolytes that I felt was well-planned and executed. Nutrition-wise, it these drink mixes are hard to top especially considering they are organic and GMO Free (carefully sourced as the company puts it).

Price-wise, they are a great deal at 24 sticks for a little over 34 dollars (find them here). Each stick packs a nutritional wallop compared to every other electrolyte brand on the market today that I have tried.

Root’d Electrolytes + Hydration + Energy Taste

The company’s products have a unique taste to them that I wasn’t expecting at first, but it quickly became one of the best tasting electrolyte drinks I’ve had to this date.

There is a crispness to the taste reminiscent of traditional electrolytes but less fizzy, almost like a tonic water or club soda.

As someone who is a big fan of fizziness and bubbles in my electrolytes I was initially disappointed by this ‘crispness’ and relative lack of fizziness to other electrolyte drinks, so I put this one on the back burner.

I later revisited the same drink, a richly-colored orange Men’s Multi, and decided to give my taste buds a chance to adapt to it. The taste began to grow on me and I started guzzling drinks each morning and night, noticing incredible improvements in my energy, hydration and vitality along the way.

I also taste-tested the Women’s Multi and the Pre-Natal. Both had a lot bit more of a fruity flavor compared to the Men’s and both tasted delicious.

Flavor-wise, I would rank them:

  1. Men’s
  2. Women’s
  3. Pre-Natal

All are delicious, however, in my personal estimation. Each formula is sweetened with monk fruit extract, natural fruit flavors and erythritol. They also contain silica which is another blockbuster nutrient for healthy hair, skin, and nails.

Final Thoughts on Root’d Electrolytes + Hydration + Energy

In a nutshell, these are a ‘Wow’ product through and through. If you are looking for something that is jam-packed full of nutrition, these are a must-buy.

My advice is to try at least 2 to 3 months worth of Root’d products because they will transform your health in a hurry, at a fraction of the price of many other organic fruit and vegetable powders and vitamin and mineral products.

The boost I got in energy and vitality was tangible and immediate.
