Product Review: Organically Sourced, Chinese Herbal Healing Teas From RE:CHI

RE:CHI is a tea brand that focuses on Chinese herbal remedies and organic ingredients.

In the pantheon of herbal remedies and traditions, few stand out like traditional Chinese medicine.

Chinese medicine is the most extensively documented system of natural healing in human history.

If you’ve ever visited a holistic healing center such as an acupuncturist or chiropractor’s office, you’ve probably seen doctors and herbalists’ collections of Chinese healing herbal teas, tinctures and tonics.

Chinese medicine offers a unique selection of herbal formulae that are incredibly useful and effective.

Recently, I had the opportunity to try a selection of Chinese herbal teas from a company named RE:CHI, which come in boxes of exquisitely packaged tea bags packed with organically farmed herbs.

These are my impressions.

RE:CHI Flavors and Herbs

In total I tried four different tea blends from RE:CHI, which was created with the motto ‘Ancient Healing for Modern Being’ in mind.

The company is advised by China native Zoey Xinyi Gong, who is a chef, registered dietitian, pop-up dinner curator, food therapist and educator

The four delicious and healing herbal tea blends I tried are as follows:

RE:FRESH Tea-

RE:FRESH tea from RE:CHI uses organic ingredients galore.

Created to help alleviate symptoms of digestion and bloat, RE:FRESH is my favorite blend from RE:CHI.

This is definitely a tea for people who appreciate subtle, complex and sweet flavors. Each tea bag in this blend (as with the rest of the RE:CHI blends) is rich and strong.

It goes far beyond tea on grocery store shelves that often seems closer to powder than a full-fledged tea infusion.

Herbs in this blend (all sourced from farmers who use organic practices) include:

-Hawthorn Berry (for heart health)

-Fo Shou (for spleen, abdominal bloating and other ailments)

-Barley Sprout (enhanced digestion)

-Radish Seed (improves bone health and density)

-Aged Tangerine Peel (Vitamin C and antioxidant rich)

-Cinnamon

-Nutmeg (learn more here)

-Ginger

-Clove

The taste is sweet and slightly fruity with aromatic spices and hints of flavor that burst upon contact with your taste buds. If you have a patient and discerning taste palette you will most likely love the RE:FRESH Blend from RE:CHI, as I did.

*****

RE:STORE Tea-

Designed for immune system boosting and defense, this blend is characterized by vanilla, ginger and a jujube finish.

Jujube fruit has a sweet but also fairly subtle apple-like taste that blends incredibly well in this recipe.

This blend also includes Reishi mushroom, Chinese licorice, Codonopsis root (an energy booster similar to ginseng), Astragalus root, and Poria.

Poria is an interesting mushroom I had never heard before. It is used for memory restoration and improving restlessness, fatigue, tension, nervousness, and dizziness.

I noticed these and other effects while drinking this sublime relaxing and rejuvenating hot tea beverage. Another A+ caliber product; way better than any tea you will find on grocery store shelves.

RE:LAX Tea-

RE:CHI offers organic tea blends like the RE:LAX Sleep blend.

Designed for improving sleep and healing insomnia, this is a delicious and relaxing hot beverage. If you’ve ever had chamomile tea you probably know what to expect with this blend.

It also includes Jujube Seed which goes well with the relaxing properties of Chamomile.  Jujube Seed may help to increase the duration of sleep. This blend also includes Lily Bulb, which is said to moisturize the lungs and ‘tranquilize the mind,’ good if you’ve been overthinking a lot lately and need to calm relentless mind chatter.

This blend also includes another herb I hadn’t heard of called Ophiopogon, which nourishes the Yin (relaxation) properties of the body and clears the ‘heart fire’ in the body.

It has Longan fruit as well which improves memory, boosts skin health and improves libido while helping to prevent anemia.

Altogether, I enjoyed this tea greatly before bed. It is better than a typical cup of Chamomile tea with more subtle flavors and health benefits all in a high quality organic potpourri of herbs that any true tea aficionado will appreciate.

RE:ENERGIZE Tea-

A powerful boost of energy can be found in these tea bags.

This blend contains Goji Berry, Schizandra (a prized, energizing and liver healing Chinese herb), Mint, and Ginseng.

Tonifying and enlivening, this blend makes for a perfect alternative to coffee. It’s light, crisp, refreshing and aids in mental altertness as well as energy.

“Without the addition of caffeine or other stimulants, this tonic tea replenishes Chi, Kidney, and Yin with powerful roots and berries to increases your energy level naturally from within,” the company’s website states.

Final Thoughts

The herbal blends from RE:CHI are first class all the way.

They taste great if you have the patience to savor blends that are rich in phytonutrients, roots, subtle dried fruits and herbs. They help to cleanse and detoxify the body while healing and nourishing both yang and yin (passive and heated, or masculine and feminine) energy in ways that other medicinal herbal products cannot.

If you’re a serious tea drinker I recommend purchasing these blends and drinking them every day. They are incredible.

Special thanks to RE:CHI for sending me samples of these drinks! To learn more or check them out, visit RE:CHI on its website here and on its Facebook page here.

They also have scented tea candles – receive free ground shipping on orders $75.00 and above
