Healthier Alternatives to Yoplait
The most probiotic rich yogurt comes from yogurt starter cultures or raw yogurt or cultured buttermilk from local farmers.
Different cities and states have different rules for raw milk based cheese, yogurt, butters, milk and similar products, so be sure to check with your local state governments.
Traditional yogurt starter cultures are sold online and can be found here.
Several different brands of organic yogurt can be found in stores including Stonyfield Greek organic and traditional organic yogurt, organic grass-fed yogurt from regeneratively raised animals, and similar products.
Most store brands of yogurt are pasteurized which means that the yogurt has been heated to kill any potential harmful bacteria. Many people do not digest pasteurized cheese, yogurt, milk and other dairy products well.
For those who have this problem, raw milk based products can help to alleviate it. Digestive enzyme products that contain lactase can help your body to break down and digest dairy products.
