It’s often been said that you can tell a lot about a person but what type of energy they have, but sometimes there are mitigating circumstances and insecurities that prevent them from expressing themselves in the right way, or from committing themselves to the present moment.
In short, many of us are walking around with way too much on our minds, pertaining to things other than what’s going on in the present moment, and it can affect everything from our energy levels to how we carry ourselves and how we speak.
I’ve personally had a chance to try out several different holistic healing techniques designed to restore our sense of balance and to shift the mental hurdles that hold us back in the right direction again, including energy tapping, reiki and others, and recently I had a chance to try out PSYCH-K with Mina Litvak, a spiritual and life coach who utilizes the powerful technique in her personal practice (you can check out her website here to learn more).
What is PSYCH-K and why is it so promising? Read on…
How PSYCH-K Works
Surprisingly simple but devastatingly effective in my case, my personal PSYCH-K sessions with Mina were carried out over the phone in just 15-30 minutes each time, but had an incredible impact on shifting some of the subsconscious thinking patterns that had been holding me back.

While “psych” is often used as an abbreviation for “psychology,” in our case it is used as a variant spelling of the word psyche, meaning “mind,” “soul,” or “spirit.”
Thus the overall goal of PSYCH-K is to help you free your mind from beliefs that limit your recognition of yourself as a spiritual being having a human experience.
In my case, my two sessions revolved around trying to fix a self-conscious, subconscious belief I had surrounding a tooth I had pulled nearly three years ago.
The tooth had been pulled in order to avert an unhealthy root canal, in an odd spot to say the least (the lower left molar). It took me a while to realize it, but having this large gap in my tooth, especially in recent months since it had seemingly been changing my facial structure (as dentists warned), left me feeling self-conscious, almost as a natural instinct.
Getting such an important tooth completely pulled is not only unnatural but borderline traumatizing, as my friend David McCullar from the NeuroFitness wellness center outside of Detroit had told me the previous week before introducing me to Ms. Litvak.
It was almost as if my brain had become wired to “cover up” the tooth upon opening mouth, so that I was closing my mouth even as the words were coming out of it, hard-wired to “protect” the vulnerable area from the trauma that had occurred.
For some reason, the self-conscious feelings had become amplified during this time, about a month ago, and I needed some help.
Mina Litvak was able to provide that help with PSYCH-K.
It All Starts with An Affirmation
As I noted before, you can often tell a lot about a person from the type of energy they carry, and especially the nature of how they speak.
In both PSYCH-K and energy tapping, another favorite mental healing practice of mine, affirmations are often spoken to gauge how a person feels about a specific issue and the energy they carry surrounding how they “speak their truth.”
My PSYCH-K session with Mina started with questions about what my problem was, and then an affirmation was created.
“I feel fully confident when I speak, that I am being fully heard and that no one is looking at me or judging me based on the gap in my tooth” is roughly similar to the affirmation we came up with for this session.
I spoke it to Mina…and didn’t exactly sound confident in saying it. It came out “weak,” and I strained to mouth the words (what makes this even more embarrassing is that I knew logically that no one could even see much of the gap at all, yet it still had a huge effect on me).
Perhaps you’ve felt a similar lack of confidence when speaking about something you know is not true, or not meaningful to you, or is not even “worth your time” because you’re anxious about the future and want to move on to something else.
In this case, Mina and I went to work on this affirmation, to re-program my subconscious mind to be able to say this phrase confidently and without reservation.
She told me to cross my legs over each other twice, and then to do the same with my wrists. Afterward I pressed the tops of my palms against each other and interlocked my fingers.
Mina told me to repeat the affirmation to myself over and over again until I felt some sort of physical shift, while pressing my palms together the whole way.
I waited and waited, recited and recited for a good 5-6 minutes, before telling her I hadn’t felt anything yet.
Eventually, I felt a slight movement of energy in my leg; something had “twitched” a bit seemingly. In later sessions, I felt a slight shift in my head as well.
After the “Shift,” Feeling Better
Following these energy shifts, I was able to recite the above affirmation clearly and with impeccability and precision, with confidence and clarity.
Mina told me the process was complete, and I thanked her.
Immediately after hanging up the phone I felt a tangible energy shift yet again, this time in my mouth as the “energy block” surround the left side of my mouth and the gap in my tooth had subsided; it actually seemed to shift to the right side of my mouth and I felt a tingly feeling I hadn’t before.
After both sessions focusing on affirmations, I felt as if the pressure and “focus” on the gap in my teeth had finally subsided, enough to the point where I began to feel more comfortable in my day-to-day life.
While it didn’t completely solve the problem, I definitely felt a mental shift, one similar to the shifts we all experience on a day-to-day basis.
Think back to the last time you had been focusing on a specific outcome that had been up in the air, now think back to the way you felt when you heard the news.
Did you feel relieved? Regardless of the outcome, did you feel like your breathing channels were finally opened up, your speech became more direct and clear? Like the pressure had been physically taken off?
That’s the way I felt after the PSYCH-K session with Ms. Litvak.
While PSYCH-K didn’t completely solve the problem for me (I just got a zirconium implant in the gap where the tooth was that should help a lot), it made a real tangible difference right away that allowed me to enjoy life more from the get-go.
And it made me think of what a huge difference techniques like PSYCH-K and energy tapping could make with so many troubled and self-conscious people out there, in such a short period of time in comparison with the long and expensive psychological procedures we currently use.
Hopefully, more people get the chance to try it out to see if it can do the same for them.
